The aim of the ASBU TRNC School of Foreign Language English Preparatory Program is to teach the basic rules of English. For that reason, a student who is admitted to our university can follow the undergraduate and graduate courses, to develop their vocabulary, to understand and interpret what they read and hear, and to express themselves orally and in writing. In addition to the language education that covers these four skills, we also aim to teach language by training and using 21st- century skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking.
The English Preparatory Program is designed to educate students who have been accepted to our university but their English level is not sufficient to follow the courses in the departments Our program consists of 4 or 5 courses which last in 6 or 8 weeks depending on the level of the students. These levels are described as Beginner, Intermediate, and Upper-Intermediate. Students' English level is determined according to the results of the Placement Exam (STS) which is held at the beginning of the Academic Year. Students are placed into different classrooms depending on the score they receive from STS Exam.
During Academic Year, when the student completes the upper-intermediate level, he/she can take the proficiency exam and can start their faculties if they can get 75 out of 100.
Our Preparatory School provides various activities to our students where they can practice and learn the target language.
